Yesterday was friendship day and my bestie wished me and reminded me of the first time we had met. Co-incidentally it was the same day like yesterday, back in 2009, 3rd of August, the first Sunday then. As she said so, the memories flash backed and my life’s movie ran through my eyes.

Indore, 3rd August, 2009:

It was a drizzling day. I had shifted to a girl’s hostel, near my college, SVCC. My mother and uncle had dropped me there and had left me to take up my new life from there. There was sheena di, my so called guardian then, (whom I had heard of, only in the talks of my mumma and mausi). She’s a nice girl, senior to be, very caring and friendly. It was the day when my other roomie, Sudha Mishra, urf Saro had shifted in. She is tall, skinny, fair and completely outgoing girl. My now best friend, Hemangi Panwar, I had met her also on the same day. Then she was in a pink sweater and dark blue jeans, hair tied up in a pony-tail and that enchanting broad smile of hers. She’s a complete diplomatic but my best friend.

Sheena di had taken care of me and my social life. She had introduced me to all her friends, who were actually my seniors, at our adda, the ice-cream parlour. They were, Mann, Pankaj, Rahul, Pranay, Abhineet, Piyush, Aniket, Neha, Ritu and our Rashmi Aunty, who owned and runned the parlour. It was pre-decided that, we all gonna celebrate friendship day, and thus we caught up in our adda, to decide the plans fro the day. In the mean time, Jiten Bhy, tall, fair with athele body and indori language tone, hemangi’s cousin brother showed up with this girl. We spoke for a while, as she doesn’t mingle up quickly. He told me that his sister had taken admission in Khalsa College in Biotech and would be staying in the same hostel with us. I was happy to see her and felt a positive vibe with her. We introduced ourselves and wished each other, “Happy Friendship Day”. All our hands were full of friendship bands. I had few extra and thus tied one on her wrist. That day I never knew we gonna grow to be besties in future. She then proceeded to the hostel to make her shifting’s and I went on with my new friends to celebrate friendship day.

We all went to Tafree Garden, in the outskirts of Indore, on the bikes of the guys, loaded in 2 and 3 people on a bike. I sat with Mann, as our frequency matched more. We had 5 stars on our way. As we reached there, we almost forgot that we were no kids. We climbed the rope ways, and sat on all swings. There was roof top dance floor, where we put on the music we liked and tapped our feet. The stupid dancing, with all kinds of weird steps, burst out the laughter. No one was shy to hide, but everyone was more eager to create louder volumes of the laughter in atmosphere. There was also a pool for boating with ducks in it. Our masti was so high that we started throwing dirty water on each other. For a moment I and Mann almost fought for the same. But later we did make it up.

It was a day when we celebrated friendship. We did not make any promises, but yes we silently somewhere down in our hearts vowed to keep this relationship with warmth and love till the end of time. Days passed and our graduation period soon came to an end. But in these three years I got friends for life time. We all moved up in life, to achieve our dreams and goals, but still keep cherishing those days yet. We don’t talk for months and years, but when we do, it seems that it was just yesterday, we had met over our adda, with our whole group of friends. The story of our friendships is like never ending to me and for us each day was no less than friendship day. Miss u all guys. Love u all and thanks nahun bolungi, to be a part of my life and for the friendship we share.
